These are just a few of the topics to be presented at this year’s Elevate Daytona Beach presented by AdventHealth, scheduled for Thursday, August 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the News-Journal Center on Beach Street.

A youth movement. Treating people better. Learning life's lessons from unexpected teachers. These are just a few of the topics presented last year at Elevate Daytona Beach presented by AdventHealth. Planning is underway for this year's event, scheduled for Thursday, August 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the News-Journal Center on Beach Street.

On the evening of August 6, the News-Journal Center doors will open at 5pm for a social hour with the return of the Elevate Expo: A Nonprofit Showcase. We're excited to feature the organizations in our community who are working daily to Elevate the region.

Theaters doors will open for seating at 6pm.

Elevate Daytona Beach will begin promptly at 6:30pm.

Every attendee will receive one ticket for a complimentary beverage which is good for water, soda, beer, wine, or canned cocktails. 

With no full meal options at the venue, attendees should make dining plans accordingly for the evening.

Each featured speaker will make a five-minute presentation accompanied by a 20-slide PowerPoint that automatically advances every 15 seconds. The result is a show full of fast-paced speeches on a wide variety of topics. Registration is now open for 2026 Summer ART Camp. The perfect balance of art education, freedom of expression and FUN! Choose from 4 wildly creative weeks of camp. Class size is limited so early registration is encouraged. Celebrating 20 years of quality art instruction in Ormond Beach. Open ages 6-12.

Sara Pedigo is an artist whose representational work celebrates the poetics of light and quotidian experience. She spent her childhood in the Piedmont region of South Carolina before relocating to northeast Florida, where she has predominantly lived and worked for more than three decades. Pedigo earned her MFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007. She currently serves as Professor of Fine Art at Flagler College in St. Augustine, her undergraduate alma mater. In her dual role as artist and educator, she maintains an active studio practice while teaching drawing, painting, and advanced studio coursework. Pedigo has exhibited nationally in both solo and group exhibitions.

Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes, made by treating a surface like paper or cloth and then exposing it to UV light. It produces a beautiful, cyan-blue print and can be used to capture botanical specimens or reproduce drawings, like blueprints. Catherine Cross will lead this workshop, where participants will learn about the solutions and products used for capturing images, printing on various materials, composition, and techniques.
