Join us for our May Eggs & Issues program featuring Dr. Stephanie Miller, Executive Director, Technology Transfer and Research Park Initiatives at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She will give us an update on some of the high tech innovation that is being developed here in our region.

Dr. Stephanie Miller joined Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in May 2013 to establish the university’s first technology transfer office, enabling university research results to become real-world products. In her current role as the Executive Director of Technology Transfer and Research Park Initiatives, Dr. Miller manages operations at the Embry-Riddle Research Park including the MicaPlex Technology Business Incubator. Since opening in 2017, the Research Park has helped 27 companies raise over $118M, create over 198 high wage jobs, and employ over 246 student interns. A 2021 analysis from the Washington Economics group showed $137M in total economic impact in the state of Florida, and 700 jobs overall. In 2019, she was named the Private Sector Young Professional of the Year and one of the community’s 40 Under Forty by the Dayton Beach News Journal. Dr. Miller serves on the advisory board of the Volusia County Business Incubator and board of directors at StarterStudio. She previously held positions at the University of Virginia Licensing & Ventures Group, evaluating and marketing technologies primarily in the areas of medical diagnostics and therapeutics. Miller earned her B.S. in Biotechnology at the University of Delaware, her M.S. in Biological and Physical Sciences and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from the University of Virginia, and her M.B.A. from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

We are excited to share that we have opened registration for our Driving for Hope Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 4 at Cypress Head. All proceeds from this event support the Halifax Health – Hospice Traumatic Loss Program. The golf tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8:30 am. It is $100 per person, which includes a light breakfast, golf, range balls, lunch and a gift bag. The tournament usually sells out, so participants are encouraged to register early. This tournament was originally started in 2019 when Rick Zimmer Sr. wanted to do something honor his son, Rick Zimmer Jr., and bring awareness to the importance of suicide prevention and the mental health services available in our community. In 2023, the Halifax Health – Hospice Traumatic Loss Program provided $195 thousand and 1,079 hours of service to our community and is the only program in the State of Florida designated specifically to meet the needs of those bereaved by a sudden, unnatural death.
