Don Burnette serves as the President and CEO of the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce, appointed in August 2025. He previously served as the Mayor of Port Orange from 2016 to 2024, preceded by six years on the City Council. He was a 2-term President of the Volusia League of Cities and was recognized by the Florida League of Cities in 2021 and 2023 with their Home Rule Hero Award. Burnette was a local mortgage professional for over 20 years with involvement in several local chambers of commerce. He is a proud UCF alumnus, with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration. He is a longtime volunteer in several local organizations including over 2 decades of service to the Salvation Army’s local advisory board, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Volusia County Schools. He currently is the stadium announcer for Atlantic High School Football and Basketball. With over 30 years of marriage to his wife Anita, they have two grown sons, Matthew and Patrick, for which he shares an avid love of baseball.
